When any culture deliberately sets up a class system based on superficial attributes, it does not deserve to survive.
ReplyDeleteAnd no culture which suppresses the rights of some of its citizens should be allowed to claim that it is on the side of equality for all.
We have evolved our own culture from that which only recognizes white male property owners as fully free citizens with all the rights entailed with citizenship to one that embraces women, non-property owners, and people of color and every religion and social status.

No it wouldn't. All that would do would lower the number of pro-lifers at the polls. But politics is not about one single issue, that issue being abortion. It's also about jobs and the economy, which is a MUCH hotter button than abortion. And it's about other things, as well. It's about the immediate future of each and every voter, all of whom have escaped their own potential abortion, and most of whom do not care one fig for the rights or lives of their neighbors across the street, much less the purported life or "rights" of something that has not yet even been born.
Ask any voter: would you give up your house and/or job/income in order to ensure that some woman you don't know is not allowed to have an abortion? Any predictions on the answer to such a question?
